Spiritual Focus

Our Spiritual Focus

Millwoods Christian School offers education from an evangelical Christian perspective, based upon the belief that all require redemption through Jesus Christ, and that all who profess Christ as Savior are to live according to principles found in the Bible.

At Millwoods Christian School we want all students to have the opportunity to learn to know God and grow in their faith. As a Christian community of learners our goal is to challenge students to excel in character and leadership in order to serve their community in the name of Jesus Christ.

Because we are a multi-denominational school, our families come from a variety of Christian churches. It is our goal to build on the common ground we have in the Christian faith rather than focussing on our differences. We also welcome students from other faiths or non-religious homes who will support and participate in the Christian program.

The Christian program contains both formal and non-formal elements. The following is an overview of what you will experience at Millwoods Christian:

  1. All teachers begin the school day with scripture and prayer. Teachers are also likely to pray with their classes at other times of the day and will pray with individual students who are having challenges or difficulties
  2. .All students at MCS will take Bible or Religious Studies classes. In high school, Religious Studies courses are provincially approved courses and students earn credits upon completion. Scripture memory and Christian service projects are key components of the Religious Studies classes.
  3. Weekly worship and teaching times with our campus pastor give students the opportunity to join in worship with their peers and to be encouraged and challenged in the application of their faith.
  4. Spiritual focus days emphasize the faith component of our program. Fall retreats provide an opportunity to set the spiritual tone of the school. Spiritual emphasis days in the spring will provide an opportunity for the student body to refocus on our spiritual purpose.
  5. Perhaps the most important part of our Christian Education program is the daily integration of Biblical truths and Christian principles into all our programming, both curricular and co-curricular. Our goal at Millwoods Christian School is to teach students that their faith is relevant to all aspects of their lives from academics to arts to athletics.
